About 200 brave souls took the challenge to be a part of the “130 Million Steps to Fight Breast Cancer” last October 23, 2016 at the Plaza Independencia, Cebu City. The 130 Million Steps to Fight Breast Cancer campaign is initiated manufacturer and marketer of beauty and related products, Avon Philippines.
Research suggests that breast cancer ranks no. 1 among all cancers in the country. For most Filipino women, there is still that deficiency of information on breast cancer. Among the misconceptions are the high cost of medical treatment prevents them from seeking medical help not knowing that at early stage costs are still adaptable.
The pledge steps to the cause by using the free Avon 130 Million Steps Pedometer App. The campaign aims to raise 130 million steps for the whole month of October and continue the fight against breast cancer. By sharing daily step achievements on Facebook and inviting friends to join the #130MillionSteps challenge, everyone can help create more cognizance for the cause. The fun walk/run was spearheaded by Coco Running club with the Metafit Cebu, Metafit Qualfon and Metafit Tri Team.

Breast cancer awareness is an effort to raise consciousness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment. Better information will lead to earlier detection of breast cancer, which is associated with higher long-term survival rates, and that money raised for breast cancer will produce a steadfast, lasting cure.
