SM City Cebu unveil Christmas village

Christmas is a big holiday in the Philippines. It’s so vast that nearly every Filipino really go out of their way and take time to prepare for this yearly occasion. Though Christmas in the Philippines may have been predisposed by European traditions in the latter part of its history, its own traditions have outdid the changing times. This has made Christmas in the Philippines quite exceptional.

Keeping the Christmas traditions alive is SM City Cebu through its Christmas Tree Lighting and the unveiling of the Christmas Village of Hope last November 11, 2016 at the at the Northwing Atrium. The delightful Christmas Village of Hope has been a crowd drawer and an attraction of SM City Cebu. Hans Sy, chairman of the Executive Committee of SM Prime Holdings, Inc. led the lighting of the Christmas Tree, and was joined by Marissa Fernan, vice president of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., Clayton and Joji Tugonon who own the miniature items in the Christmas Village, and Kythe Foundation president Atty. Arnel Jose Bañas during the unveiling of the Christmas Village of Hope.

Couple Clayton and Joji Tugonon, owner of the miniature Christmas village supports the advocacy of SM in giving wellbeing for the less fortunate. This project of Christmas display is set-up year after year when it was first exhibited in the home of the couple.

Since the first launch of the Christmas Village of Hope, the couple has opportunely been collecting Christmas Village houses for a long time and aims to keep doing so as the Christmas spirit lives on in Filipinos, most particularly those celebrating within the Kythe community. Proceeds will help fund the chemotherapy and radiation of the children with cancer under Kythe Foundation, Inc.
