Cebu Centre for Dance to stage “The Sleeping Beauty”

On December 3 and 4, the Cebu Centre for Dance (CCD) will present its grand recital at the SM Cinema 1 featuring the timeless classic, “The Sleeping Beauty”, in Cebu’s most looked-for ballet show before the year ends.

CCD’s “The Sleeping Beauty” is an abridged version where it shows the significant twists and turns of the timeless immortal loved by different generations. The choreography is based on Marius Petipa’s for the Russian Imperial Ballet and its music is from the immortal masterpiece by Tschaikovsky.Sabrina Bogart plays Princess Aurora, Megan Marie Chan and Giselle Abalos who alternate as the Lilac Fairy, and Monica Villarica who is the Princess Florine in the Bluebird Pas de Deux. Guest artist Kristin Aldana Lerin who alternates with Penelope Ong as the evil fairy Carabosse.

Playing the role of King Florestan is Atty. Cesar Gariando opposite Dr. Charrie Herrera-Manlangit as the Queen. The Lords & Ladies include: Dr. Philip Gilbuena, Tippi Smith, John Beltran, Dr. Bretta Lucion, Catherine Belleza, Dr. Ernz Uy, Cristina Olvido, Erwin Diaz, Yvette Dapat & Ian Irving Tan.Guest artist Paul Jayson Austria is Prince Florimund, the lead male role. Isaiah Villamter, also a guest artist, alternates in the role of the male Bluebird with CCD’s Rufo Jeffrey Tapang.This is CCD’s first Sleeping Beauty. Since their inception in 2012, CCD has made full length ballets every December like Stardust based on Neil Gaiman (original), Into The Woods (original), The Wizard of Oz (original), The Nutcracker (classic) last year, and now “The Sleeping Beauty”, a classic as well.

Tickets are pegged at P400 for orchestra and the first row of center aisle balcony; and at P200 for the rest of the balcony seats.
