Cebu Centre for Dance (CCD) staged another rousing performance through the timeless classic “Sleeping Beauty” last December 3 and 4 at the SM City Cinema 1. CCD’s “The Sleeping Beauty” is a shortened version that shows the significant twists and turns of the immortal love of different generations. The choreography is based on Marius Petipa for the Russian Imperial Ballet, with its music from the immortal masterpiece by Tschaikovsky.
Sabrina Bogart played Princess Aurora, Megan Marie Chan and Giselle Abalos alternate as the Lilac Fairy, while Monica Villarica is Princess Florine in the Bluebird Pas de Deux. Guest artist Kristin Aldana Lerin alternates with Penelope Ong as the evil fairy Carabosse.
CCD sends out their big thank you to everyone who went the extra mile for the group and made the show an enormous success, especially to the dancers, guest artists, volunteers, creative crew & staff and the most supportive parents who understood the hard work it entails to create a full length ballet production.
This is CCD’s first “Sleeping Beauty” in a full length ballet production. Since their inception in 2012, CCD has made full-length ballets every December such as “Stardust” based on Neil Gaiman (original), “Into the Woods” (original), “The Wizard of Oz” (original) and last year’s “The Nutcracker” (classic).
