Cebu’s running scene has been very active for the past few years. Running events happen almost every weekend and it’s a common sight in the Queen City of the South. One of the lined-up running events for the early part of 2017, backed by Coco Running was the “Solidarity Run” last February 11, 2017 at Sumilon Road in Cebu Business Park, Cebu City.
The said run was organized by former members of the Santo Rosario Parish Youth Ministry in Cebu .The running event served as a fund-raising activity for the ongoing expansion and renovation of the Saint John Baptist Catholic Church in Tabuelan town, northern Cebu.
Medals were given to the finishers in the 10k and 5k categories. In the men’s 10k race, Kenyan Eric Chipseror and Joseph Mururi snatched the top two spots, correspondingly. Chipseror reached the finish line in 31:57 while Mururi timed at 32:45. Ariel Saballa finished third in 34:45.
Ruffa Sorongon topped the 10-kilometer women’s division in 44 minutes and 5 seconds in beating Lovely Fe Andrin (52:29) and Keisha Mae Delechos (53:31).
